Elon Musk Has Offered To Buy Twitter For Over $41 Billion

Remember the other week when Elon Musk became the biggest shareholder of Twitter? That was weird. Then it sounded like he was going to join the board, just for that to change. Well, now Elon Musk has decided to just try and buy Twitter outright.

And it’s not a small amount that he’s offered either. According to Sky News he has offered to buy the social media platform for $41.39bn!

In a letter to Twitter chairman Bret Taylor he said “Since making my investment I now realise the company will neither thrive nor serve this societal imperative in its current form. Twitter needs to be transformed as a private company. My offer is my best and final offer and if it is not accepted, I would need to reconsider my position as a shareholder.”

Times Are Changing For Twitter

It’s not currently known what the decision will be in terms of Elon Musk buying Twitter. What we do know though is that Twitter is definitely changing right now. Communities and newsletters have been introduced, they’ve recently acquired startup OpenBack to improve their notifications and, obviously, they’ve had Musk become a majority shareholder.

The one thing that will no doubt be most important to many though is that they’re finally looking to introduce an edit button. It’s a long-requested feature on Twitter and one that would save a lot of us headaches. There’s nothing worse than putting out a great tweet and realising too late that there’s a glaring typo.
