Twitter users rejoice! It seems that an edit button is finally on the way to the platform. An edit button has been one of the most requested features on Twitter for a long time and it seems that the team are finally listening.
They said on Twitter.
“now that everyone is asking… yes, we’ve been working on an edit feature since last year! no, we didn’t get the idea from a poll. We’re kicking off testing within @TwitterBlue Labs in the coming months to learn what works, what doesn’t, and what’s possible.”
This news comes after a post on April 1st this year that many thought was a joke. They simply said “we are working on an edit button.” At the time of writing the tweet has over 1.3 million likes.
Interestingly this news has also been revealed shortly after we were made aware that Elon Musk is now the biggest shareholder of Twitter.
Elon Musk and Twitter
Elon Musk has taken a 9.2% stake in Twitter. The stake is worth a total of $2.89bn, making him the largest shareholder in the company. To help put it into perspective, that’s more than four times the 2.25% holding of Twitter founder Jack Dorsey.
Musk is already has a large presence on the platform. At the time of writing, he has over 80.6 million followers. On April 5th 2022 he tweeted a poll saying “do you want an edit button?” which has received over 4 million votes.
