Christopher Eccleston has said that Jodie Whittaker is the best Doctor in Doctor Who in a take that will no doubt prove controversial.
Eccleston played the Ninth Doctor back during Season 1 of the Doctor Who revival in 2005. However, he only played the Doctor for one season before David Tennant took over. Jodie Whittaker currently plays the Thirteenth Doctor.
At the recent Supanova convention in Melbourne, Eccleston shared some thoughts on the other doctors. He was asked about who he would like his version of the Doctor to team up with, but he replied saying he doesn’t think his Doctor would team up with other Time Lords. However, he did say, “The father of us all is William Hartnell, but the greatest Doctor is Jodie Whittaker.”

Despite Eccleston’s praise of Whittaker, he says he isn’t a fan of multi-Doctor stories. So it’s safe to assume we might not be getting any Ninth Doctor collaborations anytime soon.

Regardless, Whittaker is still going strong as the thirteenth Doctor. She has two upcoming specials this year which will see the return of the Sea Devils from classic Doctor Who.
She won’t be returning for Season 14 though, and the next actor to play The Doctor has not been announced yet. Also, previous Doctor Who showrunner Russell T. Davies will be taking over from Chris Chibnall for the next season. Everything is set to change after Whittaker’s last episode this year, and it’s looking to be an exciting time to be a Doctor Who fan.
