Robert Pattinson, who plays Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter films, has revealed why his character held a wand in such a strange way.
Robert Pattinson has come a long way since his early roles in Twilight and Harry Potter. He’s about to debut as the Batman in Matt Reeves upcoming adaptation of the character.
However, Pattinson hasn’t forgotten about his previous roles. He recently spoke to GQ about his portrayal of Cedric Diggory, and one aspect of his character is immensely entertaining.

Did you spot this about Cedric Diggory’s Wand?
Of course, we know that characters in the world of Harry Potter wield wands as they main weapon and tool. It’s not uncommon for us to see characters use them in the movies, flailing them around in one hand. However, Pattinson felt that he was too cool to wave a wand like a proper wizard. Instead, he had a hilarious way to get around the embarrassment.
“I remember holding a wand and thinking that it felt so dorky to hold it like a magic wand, so I’m holding it like a gun with two hands, thinking I’m in a ‘Die Hard’ movie,” he explains to GQ. “I think I even have one eye closed when I’m looking down, like it’s got a viewfinder on it.”
So, that’s my plans for tonight sorted. I’m going to have to watch Goblet of Fire back and watch our for Cedric Diggory trying to aim down the sights of his wand. Who knows? If he’d used his wand properly, like a normal dorky wizard, maybe he wouldn’t have ended up getting bagged and tagged by Voldemort.
