HBO’s Peacemaker Is Renewed For A Second Season

After the absolute wonderful time that was the season finale of Peacemaker, HBO has renewed the show for a second season.

Both James Gunn and John Cena announced the news on Twitter. James Gunn will be returning to both write and direct every episode in the upcoming series. It could be a year or so away though, seeing as Gunn is currently working on Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3. That’s due to be released at some point in 2023.

Gunn had the following to say in an issued statement:

“Creating Peacemaker has been one of the true highlights of my life, both professionally and otherwise, with John Cena and the incredible creative team around me, as well as our partners at HBO Max. To have something we all love so much be loved by the audience in turn has been a wonderful experience. I can’t wait for folks to see where team Peacemaker goes in season two.”

Peacemaker is a spin-off from 2021’s The Suicide Squad. It follows the continuing adventures of Peacemaker himself on a tale of redemption, with characters from the DC pantheon appearing throughout. John Cena returns to play the titular character, with Steve Agee and Jennifer Holland also returning as their characters from the movie. Freddie Stroma plays Vigilante, Robert Patrick plays Auggie Smith and Danielle Brooks plays Leota Adebayo.
