Battlefield 2042 Refund Petition Surpasses 200,000 Signatures

A petition calling on EA/DICE to refund people for Battlefield 2042 has surpassed 200,000 signatures.

The petition on Change.org has been quickly gaining signatures since it was created. It comes after players expressed disappointment at the state of the most recent Battlefield game.

The petition claims, “EA’s release of Battlefield 2042 was a mockery of every customer who purchased this video game for $70 due to EA’s false advertising. Battlefield 2042 has cost consumers millions of dollars in damages and upset thousands of customers worldwide.”

It goes on to say, “According to many consumer reports, Electronic Arts and DICE did not keep many promises made at launch, and Battlefield 2042 was launched as unplayable. Even today, Battlefield 2042 has bugs that drastically change the in-game experience so much that it’s deemed an unfinished release by many community members.”

EA CEO Andrew Wilson acknowledged the game’s issues, saying, “it became clear there were unanticipated performance issues that we would need to address”. DICE has since addressed various complaints, but many feel the game is still in poor state.

Issues such as poor hit registration, bugs and glitches and a lack of features like an in-game scoreboard tarnished the release of Battlefield 2042. As a result, it’s no surprise players are angry.

However, it remains to be seen what the outcome of this petition will be. It claims that 50k signatures would be enough for the creator to reach out to “some of the best class action lawyers in the country”. We’ll have to see if that turns out to be true.
