The partnership between Discord and PlayStation has finally come to fruition, meaning you can now connect your PSN account to your Discord one.
Players were wondering how the Discord and PlayStation partnership might manifest itself. Now, we have our answer. This Discord integration acts much like the other services that you can link up with the service. When you’re playing PS4 or PS5 games on your console, it will show up on your Discord profile.
This is a super helpful feature that should hopefully help PlayStation players feel more connected to their online friends across platforms. It’s not quite the integrated voice comms that we were hoping for, but there’s time yet.
How to connect your PlayStation account to Discord
So, how do you actually go about connecting your PlayStation account to your Discord one?
First of all, you’ll need to log in to your Discord account on a computer or mobile. From there, you’ll want to go to the ‘User Settings’ menu and click the ‘Connections’ tab. Here you’ll see a list of all the accounts you’ve previously connected to Discord. It may include services like Steam, Spotify and Twitch.
In the list of available services, you’ll see a newly added PlayStation icon. Click on that and it will bring up a new window to log in to your PlayStation account. Enter your log in details and you’re pretty much done! You’ll now be able to display your PlayStation network ID on your profile and share your play status with friends.
If your status isn’t quite showing up for you after these steps, you might need to check the privacy settings on your PlayStation account. On a PlayStation console, head to your ‘PSN Privacy Settings’. For your status to share correctly on Discord, you’ll need to set your ‘PSN Online Status’ and ‘Now Playing’ visibility to ‘Anyone’.
