.Apex Legends has a new character named Ash with a little rat friend, and Reddit has taken it upon themselves to name it ‘Pikachu’.
A post on the Apex Legends subreddit asked for players to suggest names for the little guy, who was shown in a recent trailer for the game. Naturally, Reddit came up with all kinds of ideas, but one stuck out in particular.
Since the character is called Ash, it only made sense for the rat to be called Pikachu, paying homage to the Pokemon series. It became a popular choice pretty quickly, and many Apex Legends players have already taken to calling Ash’s rat Pikachu.
Say Hello To Ash’s Little Friend
Currently the suggestion has over 7000 upvotes, but other names have also been gaining traction.
One user suggested “Ronin”, a reference to Ash’s titan in Titanfall 2. Another suggested “Lariska”, a reference to Russian folklore. Tons of suggestions were thrown out there, but none seemed to stick as much as Pikachu has. It’s fair to say this name is likely to become well-known among the Apex community once Ash enters the game.
Ash will be playable in Season 11 of Apex Legends. Season 11 launches on November 2nd, and sees players fighting on a new map, Storm Point. A new weapon, the C.A.R SMG, is also being added to the game.
