Hello Games is continuing to fill out its space explorer by revealing the new No Man’s Sky Frontiers update. It’s pretty packed!
Hello Games announced the latest expansion alongside the game’s fifth birthday last month, but the studio had been quiet on when the expansion would be arriving. Hilariously, in an act of protest, one No Man’s Sky fan began to mod creator Sean Murray’s into the game in a host of weird ways.
Hello Games has finally let the cat out of the bag, and as expected at this rate, Frontiers brings an impressive array of feature to No Man’s Sky.
THERE’S A NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN
At the front and centre of the Frontiers update is the expansion of settlements. Travellers could create their own bases in the past. However, the new update allows them to manage their own town, with citizens, structures and defenses. And with No Man’s Sky’s traditional procedural generation, each town will be unique.
Players will need to earn the respect of their citizens to become the Overseer of their settlement. As Overseer you can name the towns, chose what to build, commissions festivals and even settle arguments.

Settlements isn’t everything that’s new to the Frontiers update. Base building is getting an overhaul, players are getting more save slots, and there’ll be a bunch of visual enhancements. Players will also be able to earn in-game rewards by watching some of their favourite No Man’s Sky streamers on Twitch. The amount arriving with Frontiers is honestly quite impressive.
