LEGO Scraps Overwatch 2 Set After Activision Blizzard Scandal

A crossover between LEGO and Activision Blizzard’s Overwatch 2 has been scrapped due to the ongoing scandal at the latter company.

The Activision Blizzard situation has shaken the industry, with reports of company-wide discrimination and harassment of employees. Many have called for CEO Bobby Kotick to resign after his failures as the head of the company. And now, Microsoft has reportedly acquired Activision Blizzard for around $70 billion, in another huge announcement.

But in the world of LEGO, the scandal has caused an Overwatch set to be scrapped. The set was planned to release in February, and featured a giant robot called a “Null Sector Titan”.

LEGO Overwatch – Statement

LEGO has said it is, “currently reviewing our partnership with Activision Blizzard, given concerns about the progress being made to address continuing allegations regarding workplace culture, especially the treatment of female colleagues and creating a diverse and inclusive environment.”

“While we complete the review, we will pause the release of a LEGO Overwatch 2 product which was due to go on sale on February 1, 2022.”

Other big companies, including Sony and Nintendo, have suggested they are changing the way they approach the company too. But with Microsoft taking over, Activision Blizzard’s workplace culture could be about to change further. However, it’s too early to say how this acquisition will affect products like the LEGO Overwatch set.
