Johnny Depp Says He Will Never Return To Pirates Of The Caribbean

Johnny Depp has said he would turn down a chance to return to any future Pirates of the Caribbean films.

The comment was made during his cross-examination during his defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. Depp is suing her for $50 million after accusations she made against him in 2018. He claims Heard used her alleged experience as a victim of abuse to destroy his career and reputation.

Heard’s attorney, Ben Rottenborn, asked him if he would ever return to the franchise. He said “The fact is, Mr. Depp, if Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film? Correct?” Depp replied, saying “That is true, Mr. Rottenborn.”

Rottenborn made an attempt to show that Disney has already made the decision that Depp would not be returning. He quoted a Daily Mail article on October 25th 2018 which stated he was out as Jack Sparrow. Depp replied, “Disney was trying to cut ties to be safe”.

He later pointed out that Disney still used his likeness as Jack Sparrow in their theme parks. Although they were happy to use the character for financial gain, Depp claims they “didn’t want there to be something trailing behind that they’d find“.
