Gen Z Halo Infinite Players Are Mistaking Tea-Bagging For Twerking

Generation Z players are confusing Halo Infinite tea-bagging with twerking and it’s making us all feel especially old.

It’s almost a rite of passage in multiplayer games. We’ve all had those excruciating moments when we’re destroyed in an online game only for our opponent to shame us further by performing a tea-bag over our cold corpse. We see less of it these days, but during Halo’s multiplayer golden era, tea-bagging was peak comedy.

It’s been a while since we had a properly good Halo multiplayer to get stuck into. Halo Infinite released a beta for its multiplayer component last Monday, and it’s proving immensely popular. For younger players, this is likely their first real experience of Halo. However, that means they’re being exposed to the same humiliations that we were back in the day. While we all know exactly what it means to be tea-bagged by an opponent, some younger players appear to be mistaking the action for twerking.

Oh, my sweet summer child

Over the weekend a post blew up on Reddit asking the question “Why do people run up and twerk over me when I die at Halo Infinite?”. The accompanying image shows one Spartan squatting perfectly over the dead body of an enemy player, showing respect in death the only way Halo players know how. It’s a painful reminder of the generational gap, but also sort of wholesome that innocent players are interpreting the action in this way.

Much of the comments section feels the same way with users waxing lyrical about how the post makes them feel especially old. The top comment reads: “I was there, Gandalf. I was there 3000 years ago…”

However, some users are quick to point out that the original poster has had a Reddit account for 6 years. Either they’ve baited us all, or they’re just a really innocent player. Either way, it certainly provided some excellent laughs over the weekend, as did this chicken with hilarious comedic timing.
