We got a fresh look at Halo Infinite’s campaign recently, and many fans are excited to get stuck into some more Halo action with Master Chief. However, Dr Disrespect isn’t impressed.
In fact, he says it’ll fail after “3 weeks” if it doesn’t have a battle royale mode at launch. He claims the game doesn’t offer enough innovation, and he has an “empty feeling” when thinking about the lack of BR.
He also had a questionable take on how old you should be to play it. “I see 11, 12, 13 year-old demographic here” he says, “maybe 14, 15. Any older than that is kinda pushing it”. Halo Infinite is rated M.
Halo fans were quick to disagree with Dr Disrespect’s take. At the time of writing, a video of the Doc’s reaction is currently sitting at 282 likes and about 4,700 dislikes.
Does Halo Need A Battle Royale?
You certainly can’t blame them for disagreeing – Halo has never needed a battle royale before. Not to mention, the reception for Halo Infinite has been very positive already. Many players have already been hands on with the title in multiplayer tests and it’s shaping up to be a really fun game. The campaign showcase highlighted big visual improvements and an open-world approach to gameplay, which has got a lot of people excited.
Dr Disrespects’s opinion makes a lot more sense when you consider his point of view as a streamer, though. Many battle royale games are big on streaming platforms, and Doc himself plays them most of the time.
Arena shooters typically don’t do as well on these platforms, even if they have a good player-base and quality gameplay. For the rest of us, who don’t have to worry about maintaining high viewer counts, Halo Infinite is probably a lot more appealing.
Halo fans might even be able to make their own battle royale mode when forge launches next year, but we’ll have to wait and see.
