Battlefield 2042’s Seasonal Content Will Be “Extensive”

Battlefield 2042 will receive its most extensive post-launch content ever, according to sources.

Are you looking forward to more Battlefield? So am I. And despite a whole new game coming this October in Battlefield 2042, it’s hard to say no to more. Well according to industry insider, Tom Henderson, we’re in store for a whole load of content with 2042’s seasonal updates.

With Battlefield 2042 comprising of three strands – All Out Warfare, Portal, and Hazard Zone – it’s fair to expect that we’ll get consistent updates to all as EA leans into the live service angle. However, Tom Henderson recently tweeted out claiming that each new season will bring in plenty of reasons to play.

NO POST-LAUNCH BLUES THIS TIME

With new specialists, maps, weapons, vehicles and a battle pass, Battlefield 2042, is looking massive. And outside of the paid battle pass, which will offer cosmetic items, all others updates will come free to all players. The “story-driven” update to online elements is something we have heard EA and Dice mention, as a replacement of the removed single-player portion.

This just reaffirms confidence in EA’s ability to succeed with Battlefield 2042. With a failed Battle Royale in Firestorm and sporadic and thin updates for its most recent entries, Battlefield struggled to play the live service game alongside other series like Call of Duty. However, with 2042, it seems the focus is delivering a large-scale fun experience that continues to draw its player back.

While we’ll need to wait for official confirmation from EA, this seems like a likely direction for the franchise head. I personally find the two new map claim a bit excessive, especially considering their size. However, we’ll hopefully know more about Battlefield 2042’s post-launch support in the coming weeks. The open beta will launch sometime this September, with players who pre-ordered getting early access.

Battlefield 2042 will launch on October 22nd across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
