Apex Legends is about to get spooky. The Monster Within Event launches next week, bringing back the fan-favourite Shadow Royale.
Halloween is on the horizon once more, and that means a bunch of live service games are getting their spook on. Warzone is rumoured to be bringing Ghostface and Donnie Darko to its The Haunting Event. Now, Apex Legends has unveiled its Monster Within Event.
With limited time cosmetics and a night time version of King’s Canyon, Apex Legends fans are eating good this month. However, the biggest appeal is the Apex Legends Shadow Royale mode, which returns for one week only.
SPOOKY LEGENDS
The poster child of the Monsters Within Event is Revenant, who is getting his own furry makeover with the werewolf inspired cosmetic. The event will start on October 12th and will run until November 2nd, which is just before the launch of Season 11.
Players will be able to run through weekly challenges to earn free rewards. However, Legends like Revenant, Octane, Seer, Bloodhound, and Caustic will all receive limited time cosmetics you can purchase. The event doesn’t just bring cosmetics though – Monsters Within will also introduce a new Arenas map. This map, titled ‘Encore’, is based on Seer’s home planet of Boreas. The new map apparently ‘is open and offers strong environmental awareness’, so team play is as important as ever.
In the last week of the event, Shadow Royale will return. This is the zombie take on the classic battle royale. Legends killed off will return as shadow version of themselves where they can then take out surviving teams. As long as one team member survives, team shadows can help defend you. This is a fan-favourite mode that brings wall-running into Apex Legends, something we saw in a modded third-person build of the game.
If you want to check out Shadow Royale you only have one week to do so. Monsters Within will launch on October 12th.
