Amouranth has added her name to the list of people removing their music from Spotify if the company continues to support Joe Rogan.
After artists including Neil Young and Joni Mitchell removed their music from the platform, Amouranth made a tweet saying she’ll do the same.
Obviously this is more of a joke than those other artists, but she does actually have her own music. Earlier this month she released a rap song titled “Down Bad”, what seems to be an intentionally cringy song.
Spotify Controversy
Spotify may not feel too much pressure from Amouranth, but they’re definitely feeling it elsewhere. Neil Young stated “They can have Rogan or Young. Not Both”, taking a stand against the misinformation spread on Joe Rogan’s podcast. He ordered the site to remove his music, which they have gone through with.
Young claimed Joe Rogan’s podcast was spreading “dangerous” information about the Coronavirus vaccine. On the podcast, Rogan has shared false information about the effectiveness of vaccines and promoted the idea that they can be harmful.
In response, Rogan posted a video where he said he would, “try harder to get people with differing opinions” on the show. However, he denied spreading misinformation.
Amouranth poked fun at the situation with her own tweet, where she repeats Neil Young’s now-famous statement, “They can have me or Joe Rogan. Not both.“
Amouranth has claimed that her song was designed to be as “memeable” as possible.
