It turns out that Tom Holland pitched an idea for a Young Bond movie to the 007 studio, but was ultimately turned down.
Tom Holland is currently revelling in his own success after the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which has just become Sony’s most successful movie of all time. In addition, he’s starring in the upcoming Uncharted origin movie, also produced by Sony.
But Holland’s career ambitions are far from humble. In an interview with TotalFilm, Holland has revealed that he recently pitched the idea of a Young Bond movie, but the 007 studio wasn’t keen on the idea.
“I had a meeting, after or during Spider-Man 2 [Far From Home], with Sony to pitch this idea of a young Bond film that I’d come up with,” Holland said. “It was the origin story of James Bond, it didn’t really make sense, it didn’t work. It was the dream of a young kid, and I don’t think the Bond estate were particularly interested.”

While Holland might not have gotten anywhere with his pitch, it did spark the idea for the Uncharted movie. “The idea of a young Bond film sparked this idea, in turn, that you could do a Nathan Drake story as an origin story, rather than as an addition to the games. And that opened a conversation,” he said. Silver linings, and all!
The idea of a young Bond origin story doesn’t make too much sense in my eyes, either. 2015’s Casino Royale created a rebooted timeline of sorts for the Bond movies, exploring the British spy’s early days as a covert operator. Further exploring Bond’s origins could cheapen the grand crescendo that No Time To Die managed to pull off so well.
